Adios

Since this blog started 2 years ago, I have derived immeasurable benefit from it during times of stress, worry and anger. Simply typing and releasing my thoughts was therapeutic, but the real worth was provided by the comments you left along the way. Thank you to everyone who has contributed during that time, either anonymously or otherwise.

Looking through some of my previous posts reminds me of some of the darker days during my career as a junior doctor. I still think the NHS is full of flaws, and if anyone asks me whether I would recommend becoming a doctor my answer will be no. I have nothing but contempt for the BMA and the GMC and remain frustrated that doctors are not allowed to work in decent and fair conditions.

Despite all that, I have been fortunate enough to find a speciality within medicine that I enjoy immensely, and am progressing well in my career amongst colleagues whom I admire greatly. My job is hugely satisfying both spiritually and psychologically, and since it does not present any major stresses or sources of angst for me I feel that my creative drive to write a blog has been removed. It is for this reason that I am drawing a close to Nip/Fuct. There are plenty of good blogs out there that I will continue to dip in to, and should the need arise I will chip in with my opinions.

Thank you all for your help in my journey towards job and life satisfaction - mission accomplished!

Have just come here from NHS BLOGDOC

Have been bullied my by now ex employer, discriminated against, lied to, lied about, the BMA have been as useful as a chocolate teapot and As I speak I am waiting for my incapacity benefit because they have provoked a nervous breakdown in less than two years.

I am so happy not to work You would not believe how happy I am being poor and having time to do whatever I want whenever I want.

I am not tired, or irritable now that I have recovered but any mention of the ex employer can raise my BP 10-15 mm HG which is not good really.

At the worst point my diastolic was 135

Guess how old I am 37...

They have industrially damaged me and I have had enough To hell with the NHS and to hell with Medicine

They can go rot in hell.

I commend you on your persistence and your rise to being a consultant in your chosen field and I hope that if you see someone struggling you support them and listen to them and support them against the system that screws them to the wall because it is only when doctors support other doctors that progress is made.

If you are a member of doctors.net you will know who I am even though I do not post there anymore as I am banned from the fora/forums.

Yours affectionately

industrially disabled doctor

Hey Doc,

This is both happy and sad news. I am so delighted to hear that you're fulfilled and satisfied in your profession, but I shall miss your wit and words on the blog.

Continued success and happiness in all you do,

~Deb

Nooo! Why are you leaving! Looks like you've taken a page out of D&C's book... :(

I'll miss you - do keep commenting at blogs though, and generally floating around in the blogosphere.

I wonder if D&Cs ok too... He left on a sort of sad note, too.

:(

Absolutely Gutted. Going to miss reading this as you are an entertaining writer and the whole doc world is so far removed from my little IT server room.

Shame, but all good things must come to an end.
